MYSTERIES ?
I was raised by a Roman Catholic Father
and a skeptical Mother.
I use this experience daily in my view
of politics and faith and the lottery ...
My reason tells me not to believe anything
that I cannot comprehend.
Faith is dogmatic and not open to critical
thought. But, what is self-awareness?

Imagine sitting in a boiling hot church.
The service is spoken in Latin.
The congregation sit and stand when told
and respond in Latin from their Missal.
It is a ritual of subservient obedience.
I loathed it.

My Dad believed with absolute vigilance in
the Roman Catholic Liturgy ..+
He welcomed questions and would encouraged
Bible study, but he never doubted his faith.
A simple question about Noah's Arch,
brought a dogmatic response;
"Nothing is impossible for God."

What is the soul?
A concuscion can alter a person's memory
and personality. Is the soul physical?
How can a person live after their body dies?
If the soul is effected by the body,
then soul is physical.
How do you prove something not physical exist?
I know from a moments reflection I have a soul.
I am self-aware and typing that awareness.

But, we are surrounded by mysteries.
Sir Isaac Newton, "I know the laws of attraction,
but if you ask what attraction is, I really cannot tell."
Gravity is a mystery, but we've all dropped something.
We comprehend what we can perceive with our finite minds.

I asked my Dad if a blade of grass has a soul.
He said it did, "All life has a soul."
"Is cutting the grass murder?" I queried.
Dad explained that some souls are less important.
"Does the cut grass go to Heaven?" I queried.
"Only God can decide that." Dad answered.
This all seemed to me to be wishful thinking.
But, faith cannot be ignored.
It alters the politics of nations and individuals.
