The Second Amendment People...

Winkin was an elemental immortal feary.
She liked to play tricks on mortals and
get tipsy at the pub.
Normally, Winkin would frolic with other fearies,
wood nymphs, pixies and occasionally humans.
She could change her size and appearance for human
entertainment.

Mr. John Huges had an audacious mustache
that he nearly inhaled when he laughed.
Winkin sat on a tiger lily as he took aim on
a flock of ducks.
Wickin had seen her fair share of carnage in the
meadows all creatures hunted.
But, Mr. Huges looked silly in his rubber pants and
duck call.

She transformed herself into a duck.
Mr. Huges fired at the flock and she fell at his feet.
"Ah-ha! Ho-horah!" he raised up his duck for all to see,
but it was Winkin playing dead.
Mr. huges screamed and dropped her limp body.
His mates splashed over to him, "You shot a girl?"

"No-no-no! I shot at the ducks.
We all did. You saw me. Didn't you?"
Tears flowed down Mr Huges mustache as he cradled
Winkin in the marsh grasses.
Bob patted his friend on the shoulder,
"It was an accident. How in tar nation did she
get out here? Floyd are there any families out here?"

Sheriff Floyd had organized the hunt ..
"I don't see any girl listed.
There is Zack's boys over behind the weeping willow.
Well, I'm going to call this in as a homicide
and let a Judge sort it out." Floyd said and
put Winkin in his outboard motor boat,
"Come on Johnny!"

Mr. Huges could barely pull himself into the
silver boat.
He sobbed over Winkin's limp body, lying at his
feet in the hallow of the boat.
Winkin giggled and returned to the form of a duck
and flew away.
Sheriff Floyd jumped back, landing on his butt
over the side with a splash of flaying arms and legs.

"My ducky isn't dead?" Mr. Huges stammered and sobbed,
"I love you ducky!" He stood up and waved at Winkin,
"I will never eat duck again."

Winkin would have a tale to tell her friends at
the Fox&Hound Pub.

Reflections~Why is a duck's life loved only for dining?
