When You Were Mine

I love you more than I did when you were mine. Just how is that possible you say? Let me tell you then. Love is not something that just goes away because you expect it to. Breakups, makeups, knowing who you are and what you’ve become only makes my love for you grow stronger. If only I could tell you these things that make my heart swell. If I told you would you come back to me? If I told you that you are the reason I get up every morning and go out into the world, would that be enough? If you could see yourself through my eyes would that make a difference? Would you then know how it’s possible for this love to continually make my heart beat?

You are the kind of man that puts everyone else’s needs above your own. You go out of your way to make sure those you love are looked after and taken care of. You have a remarkable ability to make all that’s going wrong right again. There is this spark in you, the one that lights up your brown eyes so they shine, and your smile is like a soothing embrace that encompasses me even from afar. Nothing you do has gone unnoticed or unappreciated because your kindness follows you everywhere you go. Everyone sees it, knows it, and because of that kindness, you are more endearing to me. You are strong and commanding when you need to be, the one that everyone runs to when their world crumbles around them. You pick them up, brush them off and make them believe everything will turn out the way it’s supposed to be. Don’t you know how incredible that is?

If only you would look at me again, for if you did, you’d see the love I have for you shining like a beacon in an impending storm.
