Travels Toward Rising Star

Starting March 1, 2017
March 1, 2017
Finally got my points done, 18,100. So happy. Still have my book to finish and reviews to do for March. Hoping there will be other challenges forthcoming. Skipping the Rap Challenge because I do not want to do it and be recorded, I would be terrible at that.

I finally got my book report for The Sympathizer done. I hope it's sufficient. Want to do 'pass the baton' but I don't understand it.

Ordered next reading book. Forgot the name but it's about a Japanese family during WWII. Geez, another war book, are those the only kind that win Pulitzer's? I really don't like to read those kinds of books but I'll give it a shot. I hope this one is better than the Sympathizer.

Started reading In Broad Daylight. What a job, I like this book. The writing is more my style of reading. Received some wonderful comments from Gab on my music portfolio. Must be a grueling job to go through everyone's entries, I don't think I could do it. So much work for so little reward. Unrelated to Rising Stars and yet connected, (that's how I found out about it, from the Sonnet challenge), I've joined Poet's Place. I am finding it so interesting; never knew there were that many different forms of poetry out there. Looking forward to a new Rising Star challenge, am passing on the Rap Song (don't want to perform it); I don't understand Pass the Baton but will look into it one more time. Don't hear anything from Lornda, Choconut, or Hannah on the group co-write. They may have decided not to do it. If so, I will use my idea for a story, I think it could be good.

It's been a quiet March so far. I guess I expected a busier one. Haven't made much progress on my 3rd book as I've had company all weekend, my usual time for reading. I guess life does go on outside of writing.com although sometimes it doesn't feel like it. I'm going to look into "Pass The Baton" one more time as I can't quite figure it out.

March 22, 2017
Can't believe March is almost at an end. I don't think I'm going to get my 3rd book read by the 27th. Too much activity at home on weekends and no time after work. We're going to start working on the group co-write. I'll have to revisit my original ideas because I don't remember what I said. LOL. Other than that I've learned a lot from the Poet's Place about poetry and have submitted a couple to outside sources.

Started working on campfire story. Lots of good ideas floating around. Hopefully will make a good story. Reached out in hub for someone to co-write for the next challenge. Hope someone replies.

Gosh, 1 more day and another month gone. We are making good progress on our campfire. I can't tell you how much I am learning from this and find myself asking more questions on other pieces that I'm writing. Hannah pointed out to me that I used the word "was" several times within a few paragraphs. I never realized it. I've also learned tons from Poet's Place and I'm enjoying Prose Poetry, and other forms that I never knew existed. Send a few poems to outside sources but haven't received any more replies. Gabrielle graciously gave me 10 more days to get my 3rd book report done. I hope I have some quality time this weekend to work on it, this week flew by and I never had a chance to read it at all. Found a partner for the co-write coming up in June. Waiting to find out if we get any points for the (2) dialogue challenges.

Nice surprise waiting this morning. Received 15,000 GP's and a badge for taking 2nd in the Fall Contest. Updated my entry in campfire. Coming along slowly but nicely. Hope to get some reading in on 3rd book this weekend but my new furniture is coming tomorrow.
