Full Circle

It starts with a caress, a tender touch.
Soon new life springs forth for all to see,
growing with each giggle, each laugh,
each demand to look at me.

Childhood slips into the teenage years,
fraught with finding a place to belong.
A first love, a first heartbreak,
oversized and over done by those who are so young.

But, oh, when the true love is introduced,
leaving you forever changed,
a simple stone on an eager hand,
to have the rest of your life rearranged.

You did not walk, you ran
to the alter when the church bells pealed.
Two bowed heads, vows solemnly recited.
Sent on your way with the bond now sealed.

They said it would be grand to have kids of your own
To love, guide, teach each life lesson.
The tales to tell, the excuses to ignore,
The comfort to give when hard times press in

And life goes on and lives end in a hasty blur.
A sister, a mother, a dear, dear friend.
Oh, how I miss each of you even now.
Watch over me til I see you again.

Now my time is near to end.
The strands of love never broken
Heed my words that time stops for no one.
Express the love in every living moment.
