Men of the Cloth: Science and Religion
Some scientists are "of the cloth,"
I very firmly feel.
They act as though they're angry, wroth,
if hold their "facts," unreal.

What diff'rence have they from the church
they often strong decry?
For pompous statements make them lurch
from where true science lie.

"B'lieve this or you will go to Hell!"
the clergymen firm say.
"Believe the science that we tell
or lose your mind today!"

The preacher in a frock or suit
professes all to know.
The scientist in smock of "truth"
the way they often "show."

There is no value in the one
or other that excludes
Some honest knowledge, light of sun
by pride that oft extrudes.

The preacher that hath one belief,
not based upon some fact,
Is like all science in relief
without the faith to act.

The man of faith must use his mind,
a balanced truth to live.
Each soul of science must be kind
embracing faith to give.

For God, Who made all things to be,
gave evidence quite plain
To show Existence Real of He
requires faith to gain.
