April 9 It's My Birthday
It's My Birthday

Waken by the phone ringing,
my granddaughter singing,
my texts keep pinging.

They all say the same
but there is no shame,
my birthday's to blame.

So I build my day on wishes.
I'll start by ignoring the dishes
and count up all of my riches.

I hold my blessings near,
grateful for another year.
