*Ribbon* Winner for Aug 18 round

Words.
We forget
words are more
than meaningful sounds.
They are shaded
by hues of emotion;
each holds a secret that is
translated by the heart
and known only to those who hear them.

With a Midas touch,
they yield gold or destruction.
Like the gift of Dionysus, words are
both blessing and curse;
the results lie in how we wield them.

It's too much to expect
that we'll always agree
but is it too much to
contemplate civility
taking root in our
words?
