The Importance of Prayer

Prayer becomes the hopeful way
I look from self beyond.
My human pride sees just today,
the life of which I'm fond.

Thus, prayer begins by giving praise
to God, Who owns all worth.
I have not made my earthly days.
I gave myself no birth.

Confession says, "I'm not as good
as I so wish I was."
I need forgiveness of The Lord,
His grace for "just because."

We thank The Lord for ev'ry day,
for breath and heartbeats, too.
His wonders ever are displayed
in snowflakes, me and you.

We ask Him for our daily needs,
for shelter, clothes, and food
and hope for spirits, that still bleed
from folks, who have been rude.

So God, Who made us, helps anon
with love for who we are.
Exist He does as greatest One
beyond the furthest star.

He gave us Prayer to keep us close,
the two-way phone within.
The answers He already knows.
Relationship it wins.
