The Most Unique Human
The first bed for the Bread of Life
was a manger serving ani-meals.
He came to save us from all strife,
restoring hope 'neath cruelty's heels.

He lived in all obscurity,
a hidden life, unknown,
to bring each human surety
for fellowship atone.

The unknown Lord created all,
demanding not a name,
but list'ning for each needy call
removing sin and shame.

He had no place to lay His head.
He took no money oft.
He slept on the nearest, rudest bed
with His Spirit quite aloft.

The deeds of this blest, precious Man
could fill the world with books,
but by His most auspicious plan,
He saves the faintest looks.

The borrowed manger, unknown days,
the borrowed cross, the borrowed tomb
these all were second-hand to praise
the first respected of the womb.

This most unique of humankind
arose to live unequalled bliss,
but joy of joy to ones, who find,
His life is theirs to whom they kiss.

The Highest came to lowest be,
that lowest worms restored He'd make.
Though once was blind, I now do see.
His wondrous Word, I choosing take.
