Friendship Adventures
Today’s prompt (optional, as always) asks you to make use of our resource for the day. First, make a list of ten words. You can generate this list however you’d like – pull a book off the shelf and find ten words you like, name ten things you can see from where you’re sitting, etc. Now, for each word, use Rhymezone to identify two to four similar-sounding or rhyming words. For example, if my word is “salt,” my similar words might be “belt,” “silt,” “sailed,” and “sell-out.”

Once you’ve assembled your complete list, work on writing a poem using your new “word bank.” You don’t have to use every word, of course, but try to play as much with sound as possible, repeating sounds and echoing back to others using your rhyming and similar words.

The outlook for Dorney Park wasn't very good that day,
thunder that would rumble, lightning that would slay;
rain was forecasted from Philadelphia to Bethlehem,
with some mixture of sunshine, wherever you can find gems!

Bubbles woke Luke up at quarter after eight,
booming, banging, marching down the hall, step in great;
I rub my eyes, didn't sleep well, yet I'm jolted awake,
black and white fur runs past, into the desk and the lamp breaks!

I sit up, Luke marching past, like a knight on the chessboard,
Anna, like the rook, stretches and yawns, the morning chord
has been struck, our tummies growling and rumbling;
we're perplexed, what can we eat, "I'm gluten-free," I'm bumbling
and Anna is listening intently, although her head is sore,
Luke likes Chick-Fil-A, the tender chicken that can be torn.

That's gluten-free, or at least has options, I shout,
crisis adverted, we quickly dress, and I begin to pout,
wishing I could shower, but I'll wait til I get home later,
for today is for fun and a long lost friendship Seder.

The sun shines down upon us, a tranquil glow,
we laze in our tubes, as the water slowly flows;
breathe in, then out, this first ride is sweet.
Fifteen minutes, later, we are brought to our feet.

Hot sun still beats down upon us, such mayhem
to our pale white skins, yet we continue to stem
on the sunscreen, the water rides are cool
to our prayers, not a cloud in the reflection pool.

Four hours later, the rest of the group arrive,
time for some dry rides, maybe a rollercoaster dive!
We continue on to the dry park, but what's that?
Angry rain clouds, and ferious winds blow our hats.

The rain has come with full vegence, can we still partake?
The park is now closing, our little hearts break.
