The Night
Darkness gathers around me like a cloak,
I pull it close and pass through the inky drape;
Invisible until my breath clouds are caught,
In a swath of silvered moonstream.
I leave them suspended, the heaviness of the dew
Will weigh them groundward,
Anchoring my desires.
The leaves mutter in the breeze,
Answering the flutterings of my soul.
Under the ebony blanket, there is
No beginning, no ending,
I am the Night.
