in the white

i watched the final leaf fall
wondered where
from the ground it would go
i peered through a window she washes
she maintains so many things
i wondered where
my feelings would go
from this room i'm trapped within
walls white
have no memory left
patterns emerge again
like seasons that please others
i know spring returns
but this is winter
i live it with the sanitized floors
where i dare drop crumbs
like those little leaves
i dare stare at them on the ground
and wonder
where they will go
