Sometimes it's easy to get lost in the shuffle around here ...

Tempest arrived 31 March 2009 - changing everything, but she's pretty awesome. Dogbert arrived 13 January 2012 and is working on making the rules change again. I have two writing personas, Ransom Noble and Sheta Storm. Each has goals, and I work on them slowly. Both are published, and will continue to strive toward bigger and better things.

I finally figured out how to describe myself in three words: Creative, Determined, Ambitious. It doesn't have anything to do with how I relate to others, but I do use all of those in my many relationships as well as my career goals. I know others use words sometimes like "kind" or "caring" but I think that list is the most accurate if only using three words.

Have you read any blog posts from http://kriswrites.com/? She's a prolific author who started in traditional publishing and has moved to indie. She blogs every Thursday about the business side of being an author, and often has some really good info.

There could be. But... yeah... I have been thinking about this for a while. Don't Tell Your Mother is kindof short for YA, only 36k. It'd be perfect MG length, but it's not really MG themed. Next Jane will be good length, but increasing I wonder about the "blame the writer" strategies when a book doesn't do well. That way, I'd only blame myself, huh? There are others in the fiction biz who are saying the same thing, like Joanna Penn (@creativepenn).

I don't know how I feel about this. . . I don't think I have the expertise to make back the money that I would be investing in professionally self publishing. I don't know a lot of people who have. Also, he seems more geared toward non-fiction than fiction, and I think there could potentially be a big difference in marketing and such.

I talked to the one who texted me. We had breakfast and she showed me pictures. It was all family except for two couples who have known both of them a very long time. And seeing that helped, too. I think there were 10 guests. And I know part of this (me having meltdown) is simply that I want to fill a friend void, and they don't need it filled quite as much as I do, but they do both (both ladies who got married) care a lot for me. I'm just not the complete inner circle yet.

And right now I think I'm okay with that. It wasn't deliberate to hurt me, but she did check in with me to make certain I was okay.

Yiiiiikes. Hope you're doing a little better. This is brutal... I wish I could offer something, but I can't -- this blows. Even if it was an inadvertent oversight, it still blows.

Glad Pilates helped. Did your therapist give you a failsafe for while she was gone -- a hotline or a colleague you could talk to? It might be worth it, just in case.

But feeling hurt is totally natural. That, for sure, is not irrational. Here's hoping things are looking up now.

Thank you. Two Pilates class today may have helped. And one of them texted me some today, and that has also helped. Mostly wrung out now, and while I did my 750 as a brain dump (132 days in a row today) that doesn't improve my Next series.

Boy does this sound familiar! Only, with me it wasn't an elopement. It was a full-fledged wedding planned at least six months in advance and just happened a week ago. To be fair, I guess it was a small wedding. The only mutual friends who were there happened to also be her co-workers and the wife of one of her co-workers, so I guess I'm one of a gazillion other people who got left out... Still, I always feel jealous and left out when stuff like that happens. Probably some deep-seeded issues from the past.

Sorry you feel friendless and lost at the moment. I'm right there with you. Remember I'm the one who found out her best friend was engaged from Facebook. They never did make it down the aisle so no loss there. . .

Focus on your work. That's what I'm doing. And hang in there. Don't break down too hard and I'll try not to as well.
