Missive

Prater

Straightlaced ladies aren't allowed to live here
The lounging louts won't pretermit their presence
Mumbling instead about what they mean to buy
It makes the young ones walk charily
Or changes them after a time
They learn not to long to be seen
Or dance instead for attention
An unclean missive
"Vide, louts, you will notice me
Swaying just out of reach."
Then the older ones prater and preach
About good breeding,
But they don't matter.
They don't live here.
