Well, Christmas is a coming
And my roof just sprung a leak.
There's a hostage situation
Not too far from where I sleep.

Torrential rains inundate half of Oregon
And Georgia is still cracking from the drought.
Here we've got ice and snow to go
With our happy commercial glow.
The rot gut that we're drinking
Blocks our scary thoughts right out.

Yes, Christmas is a coming
And my roof just sprung a leak.
There's a hostage situation
Not too far from where I sleep.

Enervated people watch political campaigns.
Those, oh so polished, jerks
Calling each other names.
They're declaiming good intentions
In each declarative sentence
While denouncing all the other's rotten games.

So, Christmas is a coming

Iran has got no nukes
Though our leaders speak of war.
They just postulate a reason
And change it with the season.
Fluent words are never needed any more
When folks ask what it's for

'Cause Christmas is a coming
Of that there is no doubt
