He took down from the mirror
his only memory of you
Drew a figure of a woman
in pencil
Used your body as a matchstick
and burned his home to the ground.

He ate the snow around our old school
took his time feeling the sidewalk
tasted the air
and our music
Shouted at the earth with his steps
and taught us how to breathe.

She comes up to his waist
and screams into his mouth
A hip hop beauty in
black and blue
Standardized Tested the meaning of
your self control
and turned your body against itself.

She gripped the wheel of
your car
and sideswiped your arm.
Blasted rhythm and blues
Giggled as she took a light
and lost herself when you jumped her.

I have never felt this way about anyone in my life.
I have felt this way about everyone.
I walked the streets looking for
one God, one muse, one prophet.
I changed my mind, finding
overtly intellectual hip hop artists.

I found myself in a car
with my breath against the window.
I found myself in a bed
with my memory left at the door.
I found myself with a feeling
warmth in my heaven surrounding me.

We fall in love in each other.
We fall in love in the world.

We walk into each other.
We close out the world.
