Genre Discussion: Science Fiction
Look - an actual genre *Wink*

I was reading a blog this week and I wish I'd bookmarked it. There was an interesting theory contained therein - that Science Fiction is fiction which contains science that is plausible but doesnt' actually exist. Speculative fiction can contain scientific elements of existing science being used for things we don't neccesarily use it for.

This article also stated that there is very little true science fiction out there, based on this logic. That most of it is fantasy with scientific elements (I did notice they didn't call it science fantasy, though).

So...what are your feelings about this statement? Wrong, right, lacking? And who are some of your favorite science fiction authors?

And in case you weren't in the know, we have some talented and published science fiction authors who follow these threads, so I'm hoping they'll come in and voice their opinion and post links to some of their books, zines, and anthologies (hint, hint)
