I just started reading The City's Son by Tom Pollock. Only a few chapters in but it's pretty good. It has a great beginning and nice lead-ins to meeting each of the important characters. The details and world-building are absolutely amazing. The only thing that bothers me a little is how fast it moves, not in a let's-jump-into-the-action-and-explain-later kind of way but a well-that-was-uncalled-for-where's-the-tension kind of way. I don't know yet, it might be worth it.
