I will try to keep my thoughts to the writing, not the subject matter.
I'm through two chapters. He writes very scholarly, makes many valid points, but they are very selected points. It's not so much an argument weighing all the good and bad but an opined essay focusing mostly on the bad. A diatribe. He's British but has lived much abroad and in Washington. I feel an international flavor in his writing that I can't really explain.
