StAG Firebox - Closed for judging!

Just for the record, so far, my entries for your contest are the most difficult for me to keep in the word count. I just want to run off with the stories and see where they take me. It's very difficult to keep them toned down.

My word count is 1776. Every time I read through, I thought of something else to add and had to walk away before my fingers on the keyboard won out. Anyways, here's the story:
