For the Anime people who are old enough to remember this japanimation it is called Yamato or in the States we Called it "Star Blazers" (1979) There are six full length feature films that came first and which the USA series is based off of. My series sequels full length feature film #6 (Final Yamato)

It is in a Seven part mini series format (like James Clavell's Shogun TV mini series (1980) So this is only the beginning part and it it in short story form.
