The Emperors Edge - Lindsay Buroker
At the moment im reading The Emperors Edge

Its a self pulished kindle book, in a series of eight if memory serves me. they are set in another land with the technology at a level of the 1700's - 1800's.

So far its quite good, action/adventure with a hint of mystery too
