Thanks Ken. I'll definitely check out the Deb Chester book and KM Weiland's blog. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm already finding the CS Lakin site a huge source of well-presented information and inspiration, and from her site/books I've learned about another source of good advice (Michael Hauge). I'm also reading an older book (first published in 1965) by Dwight Swain called Techniques of the Selling Writer, which has some useful guidance even though the book is over fifty years old.
I don't want 'studying writing theory' to be a substitute for actually knuckling down to write, but I think a few hours/days/weeks dedicated to learning the theory will be time well spent in the long run. I'm seeing it as an investment, not a timewaster
Far from stifling my creativity, I've noticed I'm itching to get some words down on paper so that I can put some of this theory into practice. My head is buzzing with ideas and insights.
