Per the User Agreement, there are no guarantees about accounts remaining on the site if the owner abandons them and doesn't log in for more than 3 months.

If the account still exists, the owner can use this utility to retrieve the password if they still have access to the offsite email account listed in the account's personal info section:
forgotten password: http://www.writing.com/main/forgotten


If they don't know their password and don't have access to the email address that is listed as the offsite email, then to verify their identity, they would need to fax a copy of an ID that links their first and last name on the account with the name on the ID that is faxed. The fax should include: The username of the account, a request to change the password and what the password should be changed to. The fax number is in Contact Writing.Com from Writing.Com 101 .

Once they have access again, they should change the offsite email in their account information to one that is current.
