Each contest is different, but normally "in the body" means place your word count either at the beginning OR the end of your story or poem. You can always email the sponsor of the contest for clarification to be sure.
I usually place mine at the end with something like this: {right}Word Count: 578 words{/right} This places your word count to the right of the page.
