Due to medical issues, I am unemployed and stay in my apartment. I started writing partly as a way to pass the time, there's only so much reading and watching tv you can do.
At first I wrote by pantsing - no-one else was ever going to read my stories, so it didn't matter how bad they were written. Write, edit once and move on. Then I started caring about my stories, so started outlining them and learning storycraft.
I then tried plotting, and being me, I took it all the way. I knew every scene and at least 16 bits of information on each one of them before I started to write anything. It opened my eyes up to story construction in a new way, and allowed me to see what worked and what didn't more than outlining ever did.
