It will not work anywhere that "ownership" of the element can't be verified.

Insert will not allow you to insert someone else's item.
Wherever you use an insert must be able to validate as "owned" by your account.

Email is one of those places, along with notepad and some preview areas, that "ownership" does not take place.

Portfolio items, forum posts, book entries... things like that all are "owned" by your account as the poster.
Those will validate includes -- that the place you're putting it and the item you're trying to include -- are both "owned" by you.
