Based on what you have said here, I see this more as a fantasy then a paranormal. My own thinking is that mythology falls firmly in the fantasy category, possibly historical depending on the presentation.
This isn't something I'd write so can only give you my personal impression. But it sounds like you have an interesting premise going here with it.
