A completely bad review "I hate this because...." can affect a new writer because they really want to be built up. But a review that highlights the bad in a positive way "This isn't my normal cup of tea so I might not seem fair but will try." Or "You have too many 'the's' but I can see the meaning behind the usage" can help. (Just examples from reviews I have gotten)
There is a occasional contest, I can't recall the name in which many users here do write bad stuff on purpose as a challenge. So they want 1 stars and bad reviews. But those entries are marked for the contest.
