Just finished Tony Hillerman's 'Dancehall of the Dead'. I used to be a great fan of Tony, and Lee, and Mike, and others. Not so much anymore. The advice was to write the book(s) you want to read. I did and now I find I don't like my old favorites (Steinbeck is still there). The golden pleasure of a cup of tea/coffee, a comfortable chair, and a good book is becoming difficult to achieve. The tea is there, the chair is there, it's the good book which is missing. Writing may have ruined reading. Damn, I hope not. Well, that's my morning lament.
Momma. don't let your kids grow up to be writers. Let them be lawyers, bankers, and things...
