Hi authors! :D I've self-published several niche books in the past and know how to get a professional editor to help me out and how to get my book on Amazon. But I lack the ability to cut through and reach an audience outside of friends and family. Now I'm working on my first real novel and am considering going the traditional route instead.
For the first time ever I have a story that I truly believe in, a complete outline from start to finish that will help keep me on track, and the passion to follow through with my novel. But being impatient and with friend and family wanting to buy the book when it's done, I'm tempted to self-publish first and send it to agencies afterwards.
My question is this: do I shoot myself in the foot if I self-publish? Will agencies reject a manuscript if they discover that it's already on Amazon?
