Just caught a convention video of one of my favorite authors talking about his first panel. The question came up of what Book did the authors think needed better editing. And at the prompting of Neil Gaiman, "Jim, you've been quiet this whole time" he finally offers that he thinks the first 200 pages of Lord of the Rings should have been cut because it's not until Aragorn shows up that things get interesting.

I'm presently writing an Urban Sci-Fantasy. As of chapter 9, it appears I'm not good at writing longer chapters.
