Writing.Com General Discussion

I live in a small town in the Cumberland Mountains of Tennessee. I've lived here for ten yen years but am still considered an "outsider". It's just the way the culture is here. I have tried to find a writer's group in the local area to join but there doesn't seem to be any. An online friend told me many of local writing groups will try to stay hidden to avoid non-committal people and publicity. Are there any writing groups in this region? If so, is there a way for me to get in contact with them?
