I would think there’s no problem. If it’s not identifiable as a specific person and location who’s to complain. I’d ask the cemetery if there’s a problem taking pictures, but if it’s open to the public and not posted against photos then what damage.

There are no laws that say you can’t do a rubbing because it’s private and I’m pretty sure you can’t be sued for it. Some states have laws against the rubbings because the stones can be damaged.

Take a picture of an old one statue then photoshop your name on it (or any other) and obscure it to look like an old tintype photo. They became popular in the mid 1800’s and you can still get them today. My girlfriend and I had portraits done in tintype. I think we’ll have them redone in daguerreotype, there’s much more detail.
