The only words of wisdom i’ve found to guide me are these: Writers write.
That and Norman Mailer’s maxim that a pro is someone who turns out good work on a bad day.
Don’t wait for the muse to visit you. You’ll usually have to go after her and run her to ground.
Turn out copy. It all needs to be rewritten anyway. Just write. Planning is fine, world building is ok, character creation is useful, but until you put them in motion and let them bang up against each other and hear them speak, you’ll never know what you’re working with.
