No there is a universal ethic. We never send the price of the gift to someone to whom we offer a gift. Because he will think that she or he deserves only such amount of money and in the same time the person value cannot be estimated by a material value. It is the same we cannot tell to an author : "bye the way here are few gift points". It is something impolite in the US culture as well. Because a review is made by a person and doing so means to humiliate him or her. My review as well the review of any author is not evaluated like this.It is something evident for all cultures. May be he did this because he knew I am a foreigner.
