Since multiple accounts are not allowed, merging accounts is not possible. You have to choose to keep one or the other.

An account that old would have had its password reset in 2019.

If you have access to the offsite email listed in the old account, use this utility to reset the password:
http://www.writing.com/main/forgotten

If you don't have access to the email address that is listed as the offsite email for the old account, then to verify your identity, you would need to fax a copy of an ID that links your first and last name on the account with the name on the ID that is faxed. The fax should include: The username of the account, a request to change the offsite email address and what the offsite email address should be changed to, and a note that you will be closing the extra account. The fax number is in Contact Writing.Com from Writing.Com 101 . Then once the off site email has been updated, use the utility to get your password.

When you have access to the free account, you can transfer any items (plus their received reviews and attached awardicons, if any) to your paid account for a per item fee of 1000 GPs, as long as the paid account has the space available. Portfolio/Transfer an Item

You can use the Portfolio/Portfolio Export option to save copies of certain item types to your computer.

If there are emails you want to keep, you can forward them to your paid account (or an offsite email address) individually.

You can right-click, Save As to make copies of any pages you wish to have as memorabilia. Note you can do this for visible pages even without access to the account.

Any of this should be done asap, like within a day.

Then to delete the account, WHILE SIGNED INTO THE ACCOUNT TO BE DELETED, use the Close an Account page linked at the bottom of most site pages.

Hope that helps.
