Jody,

I am pretty sure you can't use WritingML in the title of the awardicon.

The link shows up in the email because the email program does read the WritingML and displays it.

I suggest you edit the awardicons and add "The Whatever Contest" to the title. Anyone viewing the awardicon will see the link to your contest under the "For more info" part at the bottom of the awardicon

So, not a bug...

Also, check the item itself to be sure the awardicon is still attached to the item. I bet it is...
