This is my opinion.

Start at the funeral.

Have her give the eulogy where she can detail her normal life. Don't go too long.

Have her break down at the realisation it is gone.

She is helped to her seat.

Memories bombard her. Don't go into a lot of detail, but just enough to hint that her life was "normal".

Then you can introduce the things that lead to the murder mystery, because of her heightened emotional state (or somesuch).

Again, my opinion.
