You need to reload the page on that previous chapter in order for the option links to have updated.
Just clicking the back link, the "old" link to that chapter would still be there and since it's gone, the system can't really help you.

When you refresh the previous chapter, you should also get that "needs a chapter" icon that shows you it's blank and waiting to be added.
