In my experience the most helpful alpha/beta readers are not other writers. They are readers who won't just say how much they liked it. They ask questions you didn't answer for them in the story. They tell you if they had to reread a paragraph or page so you can rewrite it for clarity. They tell you if your transitions flowed smoothly or if you screwed up your timeline or rushed the endeing.
Too often a writer will just tell you how they would write it.
They are invaluable and I always thank them in print.
