Okay... My advice to any writer can be found here: "20230113 Writing Advice"  .But, WdC specifically - write something and post it. Maybe put it in the request reviews area of the Hub. Now, here's the bit many find hard - take the reviews and listen to them. Especially things that appear negative. If something is negative, don't just call them a hater, don't just go looking for affirmation, but listen to reviewers and what they have to say. You are getting free advice here, sure, but it is advice. To go one step further, you may want to find a reviewer and ask them directly... but it will cost you GPs. Look, I have had more than 140 works traditionally published, and I still come here to WdC looking for critiques on my work. A few people are reading a novel of mine at the moment, and their feedback is going to make it so much stronger... and a lot of the comments have been there to help me improve. The story is not perfect, but the people here are helping me make it closer. So much I overlooked. Use this place to your advantage and you will gather an online friendship group around you who can help you improve. |
