I second the advice already given. Entering contests is also a good idea because they can be good practice. Also, when it comes to reviews, there is a difference between a bad review and a bad review. For the most part, even a review that is technically negative can help you improve your writing as long as it contains constructive criticism. Sometimes, you'll get a review that isn't really going to help. Either because it gives you no actually advice. Regardless, always be sure to thank the reviewer for reading and reviewing your work. Even if it doesn't help, they still took the time to read and review.
