Update: Goals for Week of 04/01/24 - 04/05/24

Reading Goals:

1. Daily (morning & evening) Liturgical readings (Anglican Devotionals)
A good practice, but might not be for me. I do better following my own plan rather than a liturgical plan. Rethinking Anglican worship.

2. Up to and through Chapter 2 (pg. 61) of "How the Scots Invented the Modern World" by Arthur Herman (in honor of Scottish-American Hertiage month, my 2nd highest ethnic background behind Mexican-American.) Personal Development

Got about halfway there, finished Ch. 1. So far so good! A lot of talk about the Religious Reformation in Scotland, which had a tremendous effect on it.

3. Up to pg. 104 (half) of "What Teachers Make" by Taylor Mali (famous for this routine: https://youtu.be/RGKm201n-U4?si=MeXDtmUOtEEVTusm) Teacher Development

Still in progress. It's light reading and more inspirational fare.

4. Up to and through Chapter 5 (pg. 93) of "Own Your Past Change Your Future" by Dr. John Delony (by request of my mother *Heart*) Request of Another Person

In progress. Got up to chapter 3 and so far, the book is excellent at provoking introspection.

5. Using Patrick Cavanaugh's "A Taste for The Classics", read up to Chapter 1 and begin Orchestral Program #1, focusing on two pieces: Bach's "Orchestra Suite No. 3 in D Minor," BWV 1068, and Handel's "Water Music," HWV 348 - 350.) Musical Development

b) https://youtu.be/EVAB2z1RPu4?si=miOGDTO0cVeE7hPe HWV 348 - 350

In progress. I did take a good look at Bach, not so much Handel.

6. Up to and through Chapter 5 (pg. 84) of "The Chosen" by Chaim Potok. Fiction

Did not get there this time. Postponing for now.

Class Goals:

1. Catch up on all HW due by Friday!!! Then the class is done!

Complete! Class is over.

Work Goals:

1. Update all grades to current class schedule.

In progress, doing that today.

2. Get all logistics together for upcoming festival performances next week.

Mostly done.

3. Start rehearsing materials for 3rd grade Patriotic concert and Spring musicals.

We did! And they're doing great.

4. Get dates and times for CLASSI concerts.

Halfway there. One school is ready to go. The other is struggling, and that's a problem with admin. Why is it always admin?

Writing Goals:

1. Compose a poem on what you've learned about Scotland so far by Saturday (or a related topic to it).
Haha. Hahahahahaha.

2. Write a journal entry on the enneagram and your recent counseling appointment by Sunday.
After some digging, I'm not 100% sure I like the enneagram. It's origins are questionable. I'm not one of those people who thinks that anything with pagan origins is evil in and of itself, but I need to learn more before proceeding.

Health Goals:

1. Do at least two 30 minute walks around the neighborhood by Friday.
Did really well here!!! I walked about an hour four days in a row!

2. Do not drink any sodas (except diet) or consume any candy/pure sugar this week.
Very well here too! Only diet Coke and diet Pepsi. Jury's out on the healthiness of these drinks, but 0 cals!

Other Goals:

1. Rehearse music for next Sunday's service.
Started, need to look again. Not sure I'm going to continue at this location.

2. Make progress in the game Sonic Battle. (e.g. add more moves and xp points)
Played a little last night. It's a fun trip back in time and a relaxing way to unwind.

3. Look into piano/voice lessons for myself.
I still want to do this, but it may have to wait until summer break.
