I first looked at an article in 'Raspberry Pi Magazine' and then simplified the build. The article creates a machine with a Raspberry Pi 4 at it's heart, with a DAC card and a touch-screen added. Total cost: £260.00 (including studio speakers). A Raspberry Pi 4 has low power requirements: 5.1v @ 3amps = 15.5watts at max load. At idle (which they are most of the time) power consumption is nearer 3w, so they are ideal for 24/7 running.
