Inspiration

I'm a big Counting Cros (among other groups) fan.

I've written about 30-35 songs but I only have completed about 10 of them (music AND lyrics) and I can only play about 5 of them on my guitar.

What bothers me is that of these 30 songs there are about 25 that have something to do with me or my experiences and only 1 or 2 sound vaguely happy.

Adam Duritz (singer and songwriter for Counting Crows) writes a lot of melancholy songs also, but is it healthy?

Why does my inspiration have to come from misery. Does anyone else out there have a similar experience?

Just wondering....
