Wants to move from amature to professional

This is the type of forum that I was hoping to find here. I have written stories, on and off, for the past 30 years. This has mainly been to amuse myself.

Lately, I've had a lot of people telling me that I should publish my work.

The real question for me is how does one go about publishing?

I look forward to hearing from some authors who have made the transition from amature to PRO.
