This is an intriguing set up, and Kathryn is a very interesting character. There's a good premise at work here too. Yet a few things go unexplained. What is the exact relationship of the narrator to Kathryn? What are the characters' ages? Are they the same age? Is he older than her? Is she older than him? Do they have a romantic attachment? Kathryn obviously has severe mental health problems, but does the narrator, or is he a therapist or intern or social worker? Why have a lot of the narrator's friends committed suicide? Are they all schizophrenics or war vets or drug addicts or adults who were severely abused as children? This is an emotional story; I'm just not certain if it's about 20-something molestation survivors or senile senior citizens.
