Hello Corinne,

*BalloonR* Welcome to WDC from "Newbie Welcome Wagon! *BalloonR*

I am reviewing your piece of prose which is in the form of questions not answered. Instead the exact opposite of the question is written.

I am a little confused. The question is always from 'we,' as in 'we're taught or told, etc., but 'they' are told in the next line. Who are they? For example, your first question: 'We’re taught to find one fish. They’re told of many fish in the sea. '

Regarding the content, I would say that we, as adults, must listen or study all advice but then decide ourselves how we respond, react, etc. It's best to find one fish and there's no legal polygamy these days, but it is true that there are many fish in the sea. Many fish does not rule out finding 'the' fish that is right or just to quit fishing at all. All the questions have that same answer (we're are told) except for the last. In my life, my faith tells me how to be happy. For others, it may be some other guiding principles. For some, they never learn.

Except for the they-we question I have, this is written well technically. I think your title should relate to the double standard issue, not the one fish which only covers two lines. You have brought up some interesting questions, looking for answers which you did not supply. This could make one think unless these questions have already been addressed which I think is the case for most adults.

Have fun writing!

John
